ESF Designer Featured…Again!

Thanks to the referral of a designer friend, we found Luma Vine, and have had an awesome experience. Our logo-in-progress was featured on the front page two months ago, and just recently his entire Logopond portfolio has been chosen for the front page. Well done, Skot! You’ve got a talent, an open mind, and a great facility understanding the client.

Just got word from our logo designer at Luma Vine Creative, that his first versions of our logo are featured on the front page of Logopond. This is very exciting! Logopond is a major source of design inspiration and conversation. We’re very happy to be working with Luma Vine, and can’t wait to see what the final product holds.

Welcome to the Team: Jessica M.H. Smith

Born in Germany, raised in Virginia, Saudi Arabia and Alaska, it was a natural foundation for Jessica to live as an adult in Seattle, California, England, Indiana, Wisconsin and Colorado. This thirty-something writer appreciates the grandeur of global living, but delights in the simplicity of small town life. She currently resides in Central Wyoming. Her job at the Edith Stein Foundation is a telecommuting position wherein she will be using her communications gifts and experience as diocesan NFP Coordinator and blogger to defend the dignity of women. Her blog, NFPworks, will become the Foundation’s official blog, in fact. Her official title is Mission Development Coordinator, which means that she will be yes, developing the mission which Dr. Pedulla was given years ago, making it fresh, accessible and getting other people on board with our vision and project.

ESF President Dr. Pedulla related his experience knowing and working with Jessica, “[she]been just a breath of fresh air, and she’s taken the reins of redesigning our foundation website. We always had a solid idea of the foundation’s mission, but not too often a real applicable way of putting it into practice in culture and society, and so in addition to simply being an ”artistic” part of the work, Jessica has helped me to reorganize our thinking about the ways we can be the most effective. All of us have our main vocations through which were trying to attain sainthood, so this makes the delicate balance of apostolic work in some ways even more demanding, and in some ways more needing of people on board that can provide ideas, be a sounding board, and generate positive ideas. Jessica is able to do all these with sincerity, creativity, intelligence, and the rare humility of a servant.”

Jessica seems to be equally thrilled to be at the Foundation working with Dr. Pedulla. “I feel blessed to be a part of an organization with such a profound mission and truly unique approach. There are so many different ways of living the new feminism and advocating for women’s dignity. I’ve found a unique challenge in helping to build up the Edith Stein Foundation, but couldn’t have a better collaborator than Dr. Pedulla. From the beginning we both clicked. We both have a huge passion for slaying the dragon of contraception and promoting an integrated vision of woman that is both innovative and rooted in tradition. Our no-nonsense approach and strong dislike for the status quo makes for energizing meetings and planning sessions! I can’t wait to see what develops.”

ESF Founder to Speak at Summer Institute

The founder of the Edith Stein Foundation, Dr. Dominic Pedulla, will be a featured workshop leader at the NFP Outreach National Summer Institute. The event will take place from July 11-16 at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. His talk on July 15, entitled “Establishing an NFP clinic at a Healthcare system or Private Practice”, will address the very practical steps involved when a physician takes the courageous action to step out and establish an NFP-only practice. Topics will include:

Addressing integration into a practice
Addressing liability concerns
Addressing financial effects
Developing available materials for self-study
Already available resources and groups

NFP Outreach is partnering with Benedictine College with a grant from Our Sunday Visitor to bring a June Seminar to the Catholic College. The line up looks solid, a good balance between theological and pastoral, study and practice.

There are three tracks, geared towards those working in different areas of service:

THEOLOGY OF THE BODY CONFERENCE TO EDUCATORS (RELIGION, HEALTH SCIENCE, AND MARRIAGE PREPARATION)
CLERGY, RELIGIOUS & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE LEADERS
MEDICAL PROFESSIONS & HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION

The cost structure, somewhat complex, seems to vary depending on who you are, what days you attend, and for medical professionals (Friday’s talks), whether you are a member of the Catholic Medical Association. So: $0-$450, and there’s an incentive to get dioceses to send multiple attendees: 5th attendee free!
